To celebrate the university’s 25th anniversary, the College of Management and Social Sciences invited distinguished alumnus Mr. Chen Yen-Hsun, Founder and CEO of Lucky Tour, to return to campus and share his professional experience. In his talk titled “Transformation and International Competitiveness of Taiwan’s Tourism Industry,” Chen discussed how traditional travel agencies can adapt to intense competition, product homogeneity, and declining profit margins by leveraging self-media platforms and personalized travel experiences.

According to Taiwan’s Tourism Administration, outbound travel by Taiwanese residents reached a record 18.94 million trips in 2025, a 12.43% increase from the previous year. However, Chen noted that with the rise of online information, social media, and influencer marketing, travel agencies must move beyond simple booking services and transform into content creators and curators of travel experiences.

Through his personal brand “MM President,” Chen has built a strong online presence with tens of thousands of followers across social media platforms and one of Taiwan’s largest travel-related LINE communities. By sharing short-form travel content and high-value travel recommendations, his videos have generated millions of views, successfully converting online traffic into real business growth.

Founded in 2015, Lucky Tour has also focused on the customized travel market, including corporate study tours, incentive travel, and company events. The company has served over 1,388 corporate clients and completed more than 10,000 customized travel projects, earning multiple national awards for its tour design and service excellence.

Looking ahead, Chen emphasized that AI technology, personal branding, and experiential travel will be key drivers of the tourism industry. He noted that while Taiwan faces challenges in international branding, its strengths—such as safety, cuisine, diverse culture, and hospitality—provide strong potential for global tourism development.
