Generative AI Enhances English-Medium Instruction, Enabling Faculty to Explore Innovative Teaching Methods

The College of Management at Asia University recently held an EMI (English-Medium Instruction) workshop for faculty, focusing on using generative AI to enhance teaching. Professor Wu Wen-Chi from the College of Humanities and Social Sciences led a session on AI tools, such as automated text generation and real-time translation, and how these tools can improve student engagement in EMI classes.
Professor Wu emphasized the importance of guiding students carefully and ensuring they have a solid knowledge base before using AI. She also suggested allowing students to use AI for tasks like debugging or verifying information to encourage critical thinking.
Dean Chen Ming-Hui praised the workshop, encouraging faculty to integrate AI thoughtfully into their EMI courses to improve learning outcomes. The College plans to continue offering such training to support faculty and foster a globally-oriented learning environment.
