Asia University now has collaboration with Syiah Kuala University

Asia University signed MOA for student exchange.

The Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) for Student Exchange has been signed to enhance the academic exchange.

The Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) for Student Exchange has been signed by Dr. Ming-Huei Chen, Dean of College of Management, Asia University (CM, AU) and Dr. Hizir Sofyan Syiah, Vice President of Syiah Kuala University (SKU) to enhance the academic exchange.

Dr. Hizir Sofyan Syiah led a team visiting Asia University on Dec 8th, including Dr. Heru Fahlevi, Professor of International Accounting Program and Dr. Muzaillin Affan, Director of Office of International Affairs, and hosted by Dean Chen.

Wen-Chi Wu, Vice Dean of International Affair, AU, said: “In recent years, the internationalization in AU has seen rapid uptrend growth. We have recruited more than 300 students from 22 countries. Indonesia is a fast growing country in East Asia and so far 17 universities in Indonesia have MOA with AU. This makes Indonesia one of the major recruitment areas and we wish to attract more outstanding Indonesian students to study at AU.”

She also emphasized that International Affairs in AU is moving toward “317” program. “3” indicates 3 languages. Not only English and Chinese can be the top languages to learn, but also students can choose other offered languages. “1” means to encourage students to go aboard at least once during school life. Finally, “7” points out that there are 7 methods for students to enhance global perspectives and competitive advantage by: 1) sending students to study aboard, 2) publishing papers, 3) internship programs, 4) attending international competitions, 5) overseas exchange, 6) international volunteer programs, and 7) dual-degree programs.

“The curriculum for exchange program between AU and Institute of Finance and Economics (IFE) of Mongolia assists SKU students for better international preparation.” Yu-Chuan Parng, Associate Professor of Accounting and Information Systems, mentioned.

Furthermore, Dr. Heru Fahlevi and Muzaillin Affan asked about the environment and resources regarding international student care, for example, student dormitory, institution fees, life expenses, scholarship, Medical care and etc. The education quality of AU is excellent and its tuition and cost living is at a reasonable price. We recruited excellent faculty to teach, and provided kitchen for international student to cook their own recipe. In addition, we built independent prayer room to respect all kinds of religions. To some outstanding students, we established various kinds of scholarships for them.

Dean Chen mentioned that in December for three days the CM was undergoing AACSB peer review team visit. AACSB is an international accreditation agency (one of highly recognized worldwide and the process is extremely meticulous and professional.) The CM performance earned exceedingly positive imagine by three peers of AACSB accreditation member. Once accredited, the CM of AU will be highly recognized worldwide. As a result of international recognition, we could recruit more topnotch faculty and students, and further our education quality.

The visiting delegation took a school tour with CM faculty, including Executive of International Affairs Man-Ling Chang, Accounting Department Chairperson Chung-Yan Chen and Associate Professor Parng, and they were impressed with breathtaking views of AU Campus, the AU Museum and the AU Hospital.
