Champion of coffee cupping visited!---

A world coffee cupping champion visited Department of Leisure and Recreation Management, College of Management and gave a speech to the students.


 The talent program held by Dept. Leisure and Recreation Management invited the world cupping champion, Mr. Liu. He gave students a speech and the topic was 「100 minutes」and it was about the veriety of coffee beans, origin and different types of coffee.

 

Mr. Liu firstly introduced Arabica and Robusta coffee which are the most common worldwide. He used some pictures to demonstrate the features and gave the students some basic ideas of coffee. The production process of coffee beans could influence the flavour of coffee, Mr. Liu emphasised. He also mentioned that enviornment could be vital when doing cupping.

 

The steps of coffee cupping are 1)weighing; 2)grinding; 3)adding hot water; 4)waiting; 5)mixing; 6)filtering; 7)cooling natually; 8)testing. Mr. Liu said that using the sense of smell, taste and tactile to smell the aroma and taste the acid of the coffee. The taste of coffee can be various due to the time of brewing.
