A delegation of eight professors from four Philippine universities—the University of the Philippines, Batangas State University, University of Batangas, and Emilio Aguinaldo College, including Dr. Bendalyn M. Landico and Dr. Asi Leonna Marien—visited the Department of Business Administration at Asia University (AU) for academic exchange. The visit aimed to strengthen cooperation between both sides and the hospitality industry, fostering the cultivation of international professionals for Taiwan’s hotel sector.
Dr. Ta-Shun Cho, Associate Chair of the Department, introduced the program structure, interdisciplinary features, and student achievements, highlighting the department’s strengths in smart management, digital transformation, and service innovation. Dr. Chi-Liang Yu, Associate Vice President for International Affairs, emphasized AU’s commitment to international collaboration and expressed full support for future partnership agreements, including student exchanges, faculty collaboration, and industry-academia initiatives.
Dr. Bendalyn M. Landico shared her hope that AU faculty and students could visit the Philippines in the future to experience diverse campus cultures and discuss cooperative opportunities. Dr. Asi Leonna Marien praised AU’s beautiful campus and distinctive architecture, noting the visit was highly rewarding. Other members of the delegation also commended the department’s well-designed curriculum and expressed strong interest in signing an MOU and developing dual-degree and other joint programs with AU.
The visit was coordinated by AU faculty member Dr. Chung-Hao Chen. In addition to visiting AU, the Philippine delegation toured Tempus Hotel Taichung and The Splendor Hotel Taichung to gain insights into Taiwan’s hospitality operations, service quality, and talent development models. They hoped to bring Taiwan’s successful experiences back to the Philippines, further promoting bilateral academic and industrial collaboration.
Dr. Shu-Huei Chuang, Chair of the Department, stated that deeper cooperation with Philippine higher education institutions and enterprises will enhance AU’s international visibility, broaden students’ global learning opportunities, and strengthen their competitiveness in cross-border employment. She added that the department will continue expanding connections with international academia and industries to cultivate globally minded management professionals with strong practical expertise.
